Hot start ignites Lac-Wash

LaCrosse-Washtucna started hot and simmered its way to a 69-42 Whitman County League boys basketball victory over St. John-Endicott at Washtucna on Friday.

The Tigercats (9-3, 5-2) shot 10 for 14 in the first quarter and staked themselves to a 20-point lead, 26-6.

Matt Martin scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead LaCrosse-Washtucna

Brent Leifer scored 15 points to lead the Eagles (10-6, 4-4).

Asotin 57, Rosalia 33: The Panthers coupled 21 steals with 29 Spartans turnovers to score the win at Rosalia. John Ausman was 6 of 8 from the field and led Asotin (12-4, 5-3) with 14 points. … Tekoa-Oakesdale 64, Colton 49: The Nighthawks (12-2, 6-2) started fast at Colton, surging to a 35-15 halftime lead. Derek Flock put up 32 points to lead T-O. Kyle Schultheis had 26 points to lead Colton (4-10, 1-6).

Great Northern League

Hein’s put-back lifts Pullman

Ben Hein’s put-back with 40 seconds left secured a 51-46 victory for Pullman at Colville. Ashton Gant scored a dozen points and Hein added another 11 to lead the Greyhounds (10-3, 5-0).

Matt Weatherby was perfect from 3-point range, 4 for 4, and scored 18 points to lead Colville (3-10, 0-6).

Chewelah 60, Riverside 50: The Cougars (8-5, 3-2) shot 51 percent from the field (21 of 41) at Riverside. A.J. Proszek pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds and Michael McCanna scored 21 points. The Rams (8-4, 3-2), who hit just 18 of 50 shots from the floor, got 19 points from Buddy Wood. … Medical Lake 59, Deer Park 36: Tanner Tareski scored 25 points, hitting 8 for 8 from the free-throw line in the process, to lead the Cardinals (5-6, 1-3) at Deer Park. Lance Seele had 14 points to lead the Stags (9-3, 2-2).

Bi-County League

Broncos draw line against Reardan

Undefeated Lind-Ritzville led by two points with 56 seconds left and pulled away from Reardan at the free-throw line to earn a 53-43 Bi-County League victory on the road. The Broncos were 9 of 12 from the line in the fourth quarter. Cameron Stevenson put up 22 points to lead Lind-Ritzville (12-0, 10-0). Ian Wagner had 14 points to lead Reardan (2-10, 1-9).

Northwest Christian 73, Almira/Coulee-Hartline 43: The Crusaders (12-1, 9-1) pulled away after a high-scoring first quarter. Karl Richardson was 8 of 9 from the field and scored 19 points for NWC, adding four steals, while Jared McConahy shot 8 of 10 from the floor to score 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Kyle Higgenbotham had 12 points for ACH (5-6, 4-5). … Valley Christian 65, Davenport 28: The Panthers’ man-to-man defense in the second quarter kept the Gorillas scoreless in Spokane. Seth Altmeyer scored 22 points on 9-for-11 shooting to lead Valley Christian (9-4, 8-3). Chad Overmeyer had 13 points to lead Davenport (2-11, 1-10).

Odessa 46, Liberty 45: David Johnson’s put-back gave the Tigers a one-point lead at Spangle, but the Lancers got the ball in Andrew Canning’s hands for a 15-foot buzzer-beater that wouldn’t fall. Drake Costlow drilled four 3-pointers to lead Odessa (3-9, 3-8). Andy Hodgson had 15 points to lead Liberty (8-4, 8-3). … Wilbur-Creston 66, Sprague-Harrington 55: Cade Anderson put up 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Wildcats to the win at Harrington. Bryceson Charlton and Terry Kissler scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, to lead the Falcons (4-9, 3-8).

Northeast A League

Scotties press past Newport

Freeman used a smothering press to score a 69-20 victory at Newport. Malcolm Soelberg was 9 of 21 from the field and scored 22 points to lead the Scotties (11-2, 3-0). David McFall scored half of the Grizzlies’ (4-10, 0-3) total.

Panorama League

Curlew comeback trips Selkirk

Curlew roared back from a 16-point deficit in the final 4:30 to earn a 70-69 Panorama League victory over visiting Selkirk.

Cody Groth’s three-point play gave the Cougars (10-4, 7-2) a one-point lead with 35 seconds to play. Clint March’s layup with 15 seconds left gave the Rangers (9-6, 7-2) a one-point lead. Dillon Strandberg plucked the ball out of a midcourt melee and found Cameron Kroupa underneath the Curlew basket for the winning lay-up. Kroupa finished with 20 points for Curlew. Travis Zimmerman’s 22 paced the Rangers.

Republic 117, Cusick 31: The Tigers set a school record, breaking the previous standard of 114 points established in 1993. The Republic bench scored 31 points in the fourth quarter, led by Adam Hancock, who scored 10 of his 14 points in the final period. Tyler Orestad led the Tigers (13-1, 8-0) with 26 points and 13 assists. … Inchelium 63, Springdale 57: Down by 10 after one quarter, the Hornets (6-9, 4-6) came back behind Richard Williams’ 31-point, nine-rebound effort. Lance Ragan added 16 points and 17 rebounds for Inchelium. Adam Thompson pumped in 22 points for Springdale (1-14, 0-9).

St. George’s 60, Columbia 39: The Dragons (8-6, 6-1) went on a 21-8 run in the second period to take control at Hunters. Henry Butler pumped in 23 points for St. George’s. The Lions (4-8, 3-5) had four of their five starters foul out before the end of the third quarter while Tyrel Sampson scored 18 points. … Wellpinit 68, St. Michael’s 65: Preston Wynne capped his 41-point, 13-rebound night by converting a pair of free throws with 27 seconds left to preserve the win for Wellpinit (7-7, 5-4). Carlos Durazo scored 12 of his team-high 21 points in the fourth quarter for St. Michael’s (5-9, 3-6).

Non-league

Butorac sparks Mustangs

Northport built a 15-point lead in the first half and cruised to a non-league, 74-64 victory over visiting Grand Forks, B.C. Chad Butorac scored 25 points and Tucker Guglielmino added another 19 to lead the Mustangs (5-9).
