Pickler sets Coug record

Washington State’s Diana Pickler, a redshirt sophomore from Sasche, Texas, broke the school record in the pentathlon with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark of 3,928 points Friday night at the Cougar Indoor Track and Field meet held in Pullman.

Sophomore Mason Kien won the men’s long jump for the Cougars with a leap of 23 feet, ¾ inches.

The indoor competition between athletes from California, Utah State, Idaho and WSU continues today.

Junior hockey

Mike Senseman scored two goals to lead the Spokane Braves (20-20-2-2) to a 4-3 victory over the Nelson Leafs (14-23-2-1) in KIJHL action at Nelson.

Goalkeeper Ryan Skier finished with 36 saves for the Braves, who have won their last eight games.
