Car sales event will benefit Vanessa Behan Nursery

During the Ford of July Sales Event this weekend, a donation will be made to the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery for every new car purchased.

Three local Ford dealerships – Wendle Ford, Gus Johnson Ford and Empire Ford - will host the event at the Spokane Arena through Monday.

An additional donation will be made by the dealerships if 100 new Ford vehicles are bought during the sale.

The Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery offers care by providing a safe haven for newborn children through the age of 6 who are at risk for injury or neglect due to a family crisis. The nursery also offers service for parents, such as parenting classes, crisis counseling and referrals to other community support resources.

Hot dogs for the lake

Hot dogs, sausages, lemonade and pop are available for purchase today from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Moab Junction, located at Trent and Starr roads in Newman Lake.

Proceeds from the annual event will benefit the Newman Lake SCOPE program and Fire District 13.

Symphony benefit

Enjoy Caribbean music by Moko Jumbie, sip on wines and nibble on food while you assist the Spokane Symphony Thursday.

The Summer Soiree wine tasting and auction, to held at Beacon Hill Events and Caterers, 4848 E. Wellesley Ave. from 6 to 9:30 p.m., also will offer a variety of auction items up for bid.
