The Massachusetts Institute of Technology is asking thousands of Web loggers questions about who they are and why they blog. The survey’s home page at http://blogsurvey.media.mit.edu invites anyone who wants to participate to request a password. Sponsored by the MIT Media Laboratory, invitations were initially sent to 5,000 Web logs to act as representative sample.
“Our goal is to help understand the way that Web logs are affecting the way we communicate with each other,” MIT said. “We are interested in issues of demographics, communication behaviors … and the meaning of various types of social links within the blogosphere.”
Local journalism is essential.
