Valley Fire – Commissioners passed a resolution to send two staffed vehicles to the Spokane Interstate Fair this year. They also agreed to make the final payment to the contractor that built the new fire station near Pines and Interstate 90. The building would leak when it rained, but the bricks have now been coated with a sealant. Commissioners also recognized 12 firefighters who passed their probationary period and several firefighters who earned promotions. (Source: Commissioner Joe Dawson)

Fire District 13 (Newman Lake) – Commissioners passed a resolution to adopt the National Incident Management System. They also discussed an upcoming barn dance sponsored by the fire auxiliary and Newman Lake SCOPE.
