BookCrossing.com was started as an experiment by a Sandpoint couple, Heather and Bruce Pedersen, and their partner in Kansas City. Now the Web site generates 25 million visits a month and has 375,000 registered members. It also won two Webby awards this year — the Oscars of the online world.

BookCrossing does all that by serving book lovers who like to share their passion by “releasing” favorite books for others to find and enjoy.
