Rock still on top

Los Angeles Times

Audioslave extended rock’s hold on the top spot on the Billboard albums chart to six weeks by selling 263,000 copies of its new album, “Out of Exile,” in its first week in stores.

During the streak – a rare rock showing in an era dominated chiefly by hip-hop and mainstream pop artists – Rob Thomas, Bruce Springsteen, Nine Inch Nails, the Dave Matthews Band and System of a Down all have entered the chart at No. 1. But none has been able to hold on to the top position for more than one week.
