It’s certainly been more lows than highs for Lohan

It’s been a tough year for Lindsay Lohan.

She broke up with “That ‘70s Show” actor Wilmer Valderrama, was hospitalized for exhaustion and has left tongues wagging about her dramatic weight loss.

Her father has had various run-ins with the law. And she had her own run-in last week with a photographer who crashed into her car while trying to take her picture.

“I’m an 18-year-old girl and I’ve dealt with so many things in this past year,” Lohan says.

She says she can’t figure out why tabloid magazines are so interested in her personal life.

“There’s not much I can do at this point anymore,” Lohan says. “I feel like the more I kind of defend myself, then the more they say.

“I’m just such an easy target, I guess,” she says. “I don’t know why I’m so interesting.

“Hopefully, people will get sick of it and ban buying the magazines in protest against it for a month,” Lohan says, adding with a laugh: “But I can’t say that I don’t read it.”

Pitt wants press to feast on famine

Brad Pitt took on the tabloids during an hour-long ABC “Primetime Live” special Tuesday night.

“Most of these stories, you get probably 2 percent real fruit juice and the rest is just garbage with no nutritional value,” says Pitt, whose split with wife Jennifer Aniston and rumored romance with Angelina Jolie have been hot tab topics.

He’d rather talk about efforts to end poverty in Africa: “I can’t get out of the press. These people can’t get in the press. So let’s redirect the attention a little bit.”

It’s an off-limited partnership

Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie reportedly has threatened to sue any reporter who breaks the terms of her interview contract, which stipulates that she must not be asked “any questions regarding her personal relationships.”

It says interviews “may only be used to promote the Picture” – namely, “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” co-starring Brad Pitt, which opens Friday.

Pressed on Monday’s “Today” show about their reported romance, Jolie said: “Do I have to defend myself as a decent woman? I hope I don’t have to.”

She truly takes pleasure in Cruise

Katie Holmes has a message for the paparazzi and tabloid reporters hounding her and new beau Tom Cruise: Take your best shot.

“Things like articles, whatever, I don’t care,” Holmes says, adding: “I truly feel like the luckiest woman in the world.”

The 26-year-old actress’ relationship with the 42-year-old Cruise has been suspected by some as a publicity stunt, but she insists their romance is real.

And while Holmes denies that the couple is engaged, she adds: “But it makes me smile to think about it.”

We think we get the picture

Tom Cruise‘s ex-wife, Nicole Kidman, has been careful not to cast judgment on his much-publicized relationship with Katie Holmes.

But asked about photographic publicity stunts in general, Kidman tells Vanity Fair in its July issue: “In terms of your life, if you start to exploit it, then what’s real, and what’s not? What’s yours, and what isn’t?”
