Hotels, car rental groups doing their part to keep you traveling this summer

With gasoline prices high, car rental companies and hotels are offering incentives to keep travelers on the road:

• Hertz is offering AAA members a free tank of gas with weekly rentals of premium or above cars. The promotion is in addition to the regular AAA discount. The offer is valid through Sept. 30. Use PC 960105 when booking. Contact: (800) 654-2210;www.hertz.com.

• Avis is offering up to three free child safety seats when you rent a minivan, SUV or 12-passenger van. The offer is valid at participating locations through Sept. 5. Blackout dates apply. A coupon, available online, is required. See www.avis.com.

• Dollar has minivan rentals starting $36 per day and $189 per week and compact cars starting at $25 per day and $120 per week at five South Florida locations. The offer is valid through July 15. Use promo code FLR2 when booking. See www.dollar.com/special_offers/details.aspx.

• Hotels.com is offering a gas rebate of up to $30 for stays of two or more nights through Sept. 5. Guests must book online by June 19. To receive the rebate, submit an online coupon by mail along with your original gas receipt by Sept. 12. See www.hotels.comromotion.jsp?id1706.

• A number of independent hotels are offering gas rebates with your stay. Sample offers include a $25 gas credit at the Brava House in Austin, 10 percent off your stay with a gas receipt at Cougar Crest Lodge in Coeur d’Alene, and up to $20 off and a space-available room upgrade with a gas receipt for stays at the Admiral Fell Inn in Baltimore. • Receive a gas voucher worth up to $50 with the Aspen’s Got Free Gas & Wheels deal offered by the Aspen, Colo., Chamber of Commerce. The promotion is valid for summer stays of two or more nights at 16 participating Aspen hotels. Guests will also receive two free bus rides to the Maroon Bells mountain peaks, and their choice of two free one-day bicycle rentals or two free gondola rides to the top of Aspen Mountain. • Participating BedandBreakfast.com properties are offering gas rebates for guests.
