Choosing an assisted-living facility for yourself or a family member can be extremely hard, but Consumer Reports magazine says help can be found on the federal Eldercare Web site, at www.eldercare.gov. The site includes a locator of agency offices that keep lists of facilities as well as contact information for long-term-care ombudsmen, who can tell you whether there have been complaints about facilities on your list.
