David Spade to host Comedy Central show

Associated Press

David Spade once did the “Hollywood Minute” on “Saturday Night Live.” Now he figures there’s enough celebrity material for a half-hour of fun each week.

“The Showbiz Show,” coming this fall to Comedy Central, will aim to do for entertainment news shows what Jon Stewart does for the nightly news.

It will feature a mix similar to “The Daily Show,” with “correspondents,” on-location pieces, parodies using film clips and celebrity guests.

“There’s so much that’s funny in all these magazines and shows that there needs to be a different point of view,” Spade says.

“I’m not saying it has to be mean – mean jokes aren’t always the funniest.

“I think it’s just making fun and taking a new angle, and kind of doing what people are thinking for real.”

Howard’s end on E!

E! Entertainment Television will air its last new episode of “The Howard Stern Show” on July 8.

The televised version of Stern’s radio show has been an E! staple since 1994.

The channel will continue airing reruns for the foreseeable future.

The outspoken Stern’s popular radio program will move to Sirius Satellite Radio in January.
