SCT presents ”Hobbit”
The Spokane Children’s Theater heads to The Shire with a musical version of “The Hobbit.”
This version, authorized by J.R.R. Tolkien, features the familiar cast of hobbits, dwarves and elves from the classic book. Yet they will be singing and dancing to the songs of Allan Jay Friedman and David Rogers.
Jared Mola plays Bilbo Baggins, 6-year-old Hannah Lee plays Frodo, Dennis Craig plays Gandalf, and Janelle Sims plays Gollum. Kim Roberts directs.
The show opens Sunday at 4 and 7 p.m. and continues May 13 at 7 p.m.; May 15 at 1, 4 and 7 p.m.; May 17 and 20 at 7 p.m.; May 21 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.; and May 22 at 1 and 4 p.m. at Spokane Community College’s Lair Auditorium, 1810 N. Greene St.

‘Family Secrets’
The Pend Oreille Players present an original play by Ron Ragone beginning Saturday.
“Family Secrets” is a heartwarming drama about a late 1940s family gathering in Southern California.
Ragone plays Papa and Linda Roney plays Nonna. The co-directors are Patricia Ragone and Ruth Wagner.
It runs Saturday, Sunday and May 14-15 and 21-22 at the Priest River Junior High Auditorium, 1020 W. Albeni Highway (U.S. 2). Showtimes are 7 p.m. on Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays.
Tickets will be available at the door only, $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and students, and $6 for children 11 and under. A special preview performance will be open to anyone of Italian heritage on Friday at 7 p.m., with tickets $2 at the door
