Ed Schweitzer has been called a “small-town Bill Gates,” but people who know the multimillionaire founder of Pullman-based Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories say he’s more small-town than Bill Gates.

“Ed is totally approachable,” says one business owner.

SEL is growing rapidly, doubling in size in the last five years, and now is the largest employer in Eastern Washington outside of Spokane County.
