Brackets are set for the NEA baseball tournament, with No. 4 Kettle Falls (6-11) at No. 1 Newport (19-0) and No. 3 Freeman (8-9) at No. 2 Colfax (4-10), both at 4 p.m. on Friday. The winners play Saturday at Newport, with the winner of that game the top seed into state. … Freeman softball locked up the league title with a sweep of Kettle Falls on Saturday. The Scotties are 8-2, two games ahead of KF with two to play, but would hold the tiebreaker based on winning three out of four regular-season meetings.
