Week in review
Fairfield City Council – Council members discussed the completion of the city’s new wastewater treatment plant. Councilman Don Foster presented a draft of a citizen survey that he would like to have done. Eight new trees are scheduled to be planted in the lower park. The council also gave permission for a food bank to open in the meeting room of the town’s fire station at 202 N. Railroad Ave. (Source: City Clerk Sue Adams)
Rockford City Council – A representative of the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office was on hand to discuss council members’ concerns about the level of police protection they receive and the cost of the law enforcement contract. (Source: City Clerk)
Spokane Valley Fire – Commissioners made plans for the annual retreat for commissioners and chief officers in July. They also revised several job descriptions and announced they would change their meeting schedule to the second and fourth Wednesdays during June, July and August. (Source: Commissioner Joe Dawson)
Fire District 8 – New deputy chief Lonnie Rash was sworn in. The commissioners approved a letter that the chief wrote to the City of Spokane Valley and the Spokane County Planning Department about access issues relating to a planned development in the Ponderosa area. It was also decided to send a letter to the City of Spokane requesting any correspondence regarding possible future annexations of the district’s coverage area into the city.
