Trio Voronezh plays Panida
Trio Voronezh makes a return visit to Sandpoint’s Panida Theater for a concert tonight at 7:30.
The Russian trio plays everything from Bach to works by great composers from its homeland, on traditional instruments including the double-bass balalaika; the domra, a short-necked lute that was a predecessor to the balalaika; and the bajan, a chromatic-button accordion.
The group previously played at the Panida in 1999 and has appeared on National Public Radio’s “A Prairie Home Companion.”
Tickets for tonight’s concert are $17.50 for adults ($14 for Pend Oreille Arts Council members), $8.50 for ages 18 and under, by calling the council at (208) 263-6139 or online at www.ArtinSandpoint.org or www.sandpointonline.com.
