Martin Havlat and Daniel Alfredsson scored goals for Ottawa, one night after each tied the team record with four goals, leading the Senators to a 4-2 victory over the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night.

Dany Heatley, who scored Ottawa’s other two goals in a 10-4 victory in Buffalo on Wednesday night, assisted on Alfredsson’s first-period goal to extend his team-record points streak to 12 games to begin the season.

The Senators moved ahead of idle Montreal for first place in the Northeast Division and the Eastern Conference with 20 points.

Flyers 8, Capitals 1: At Philadelphia, Jeff Carter, Simon Gagne and Jon Sim each scored twice, leading Philadelphia over Washington.

Penguins 5, Islanders 1: At Uniondale, N.Y., Sidney Crosby had his first two-goal game in the NHL and set up another Pittsburgh score, and the Penguins rode a rare early lead to a victory over New York.

Crosby, the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft, had a goal and an assist in the first period and then scored again in the third off a brilliant pass from Mario Lemieux for his second three-point game in 13 contests. Crosby has at least one point in all but two games.

Avalanche 4, Mighty Ducks 3: At Denver, Antti Laaksonen scored two goals and Joe Sakic moved into a tie for 14th place on the NHL’s career points list, helping Colorado beat Anaheim.

Sakic put Colorado up 3-1 in the second period, tying Doug Gilmour with his 1,414th point, and Laaksonen sealed Colorado’s fourth straight win on a short-handed goal with 4:42 left – one of numerous defensive breakdowns by the Ducks.

Coyotes 4, Kings 0: At Glendale, Ariz., Curtis Joseph stopped the streaking Kings with his second shutout this season, and Phoenix responded to coach Wayne Gretzky’s scolding with a victory over Los Angeles.
