Boise State roughs up NMSU
Lee Marks rushed 18 times for 112 yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Jared Zabransky ran for a score and threw for another as Boise State easily defeated winless New Mexico State 56-6 Saturday in Boise.
The Broncos (7-2, 5-0 Western Athletic Conference), who lead the WAC in rushing yardage, ran for 303 yards and 6 touchdowns as they amassed 524 yards total offense against the Aggies (0-9, 0-5).
The Broncos scored on their first three possessions after sophomore safety Marty Tadman intercepted Aggies junior quarterback Joey Vincent on New Mexico State’s opening drive at the 7-yard line. Boise State then drove 93 yards in 13 plays, with Jeff Carpenter scoring on a 10-yard run around the right side with 6:14 left in the first quarter.
Marks capped an 11-play, 62-yard drive with a four-yard scoring run to open the second quarter.
Zabransky, a junior, threw for 138 yards, just 30 short of 5,000 career passing yards.
The win was Boise State’s seventh straight after two season-opening losses and extended the longest current home winning streak in Division I-A to 30 games, tying Auburn, Florida and Tennessee for the 13th longest streak in NCAA history. The Broncos also notched their 31st straight conference victory.

Paul Pinegar passed for 368 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another score to help the Bulldogs (7-1, 5-0) cruise to a victory over the Spartans (1-8, 0-6) in Fresno, Calif.
Pinegar matched David Carr’s school record with the 70th touchdown pass of his career, and Paul Williams caught six passes for 137 yards and a score for the Bulldogs, who didn’t encounter much resistance from their oldest rival.
Wendell Mathis ran for 105 yards and a score as Fresno State beat the Spartans for the 12th straight time since 1990.
Nevada 38, Hawaii 28
Jeff Rowe passed for 204 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another and B.J. Mitchell ran for 150 yards and two scores to lead the Wolf Pack (5-3, 4-1) past the Warriors (3-6, 3-4) in Reno, Nev.
Caleb Spencer caught a pair of touchdown passes for the Wolf Pack, who are bidding for their first winning season since 1998.
Hawaii freshman Colt Brennan completed 29 of 43 passes for 409 yards and three touchdowns, but he was sacked five times and intercepted once.
Louisiana Tech 27, Utah St. 17
Matt Kubik ran for one touchdown and threw for another to propel the Bulldogs (5-3, 4-1) to a victory over the Aggies (2-6, 1-4) in Logan, Utah.
Patrick Jackson rushed for 71 yards and scored a touchdown for the Bulldogs, who were 0-3 on the road before beating the Aggies.
Louisiana Tech turned four Utah State turnovers into 17 points and took control late in the third quarter.
