Warriors hand Bucks first defeat

Associated Press

Baron Davis showed T.J. Ford that he still has a lot to learn at point guard – and the Milwaukee Bucks found out they have trouble defending the 3-point shot.

Davis had 20 points and 15 assists and the Golden State Warriors went 13 of 27 from 3-point range in a 110-103 victory on Tuesday in Milwaukee.

Troy Murphy scored 25 points and Jason Richardson added 23 as Golden State handed Milwaukee it first loss of the season.

Mo Williams and Michael Redd each had 21 points for the Bucks.

Pistons 102, Kings 88: Tayshaun Prince scored 25 points on 10-of-13 shooting, and Detroit emphatically snapped an eight-game losing streak in Sacramento, Calif., with a victory over the Kings.

Chauncey Billups had 16 points and eight assists, and Richard Hamilton added 21 points for the Pistons.

Lakers 103, Hawks 97: Kobe Bryant scored 37 points, including two drives to spark a 14-2 second-half run, and Los Angeles spoiled Atlanta’s home opener.

Bryant topped the 30-point mark for the fourth straight game and had 37 for the second straight game – right near his NBA-best average of 36.3.

Magic 76, Rockets 74: At Houston, Steve Francis scored 27 points against his former teammates to lead Orlando past the Rockets.

Yao Ming had 17 points for Houston, which looked shaky on offense for the second straight game without injured Tracy McGrady.
