Froggy scores one for Spokane

One Eastern Washington restaurateur made the list of winners at the Washington Restaurant Association’s Hospitality Awards Gala, which the West Side otherwise dominated. From the release:

“Lisa Hooke of Senor Froggy Restaurants in Spokane received the Quick Service Host of the Year award … A Spokane native, Hooke began working in the quick service industry in high school. She is an active member of the board of the Washington Restaurant Association and, along with her husband Dave, has been a leader in the Spokane hospitality industry since 1979.”

Congratulations, Lisa Hooke and Senor Froggy.

Taco withdrawal isn’t pretty

The Tacos Tumbras truck at 3721 N. Division St. recently rambled on in search of another spot after less than two months of business because of alleged pressures from a neighboring restaurant, said Carlos Zuniga, whose family owns Tumbras.

In the meantime, get thee to Spokane Valley, to Tumbras’ other location next to Costco on East Sprague Avenue.

Try a ‘tini

Bistango Martini Lounge finally let the public in on its 38-strong martini list on Wednesday, when it opened its doors at 108 N. Post St.

It also offers wines, a selection of bottled beer – no taps here – and a menu of small plates.

Hours are Mondays through Saturdays, 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. (509) 624-TINI.
