Spirit fest in Sandpoint

The Panida Theater, 300 N. First, Sandpoint is the site of the third annual Festival of the Spirit from Thursday through Dec. 4.

Presented by the Morning Light Foundation, the festival will include movies such as “The Shaker” by Ken Burns, concerts and such events as an appearance by poet and translator Coleman Barks and an opening tree-planting ceremony.

There also will be a panel discussion about the “Spiritual Search in Our Time” and an Inland Northwest premiere of the movie “Illusion,” starring Kirk Douglas.

Events begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, 7 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Dec. 3 and 4.

The cost is $25 for a festival pass, or you can buy tickets to each event.

Christmas concerts

• Westminster Congregational United Church of Christ, 411 S. Washington St., is presenting its annual Christmas at Noon concerts from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. Thursday and Dec. 8 and 15.

Audience members are invited to bring a sack lunch during the concert.

• First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar St., is presenting a Sing-a-Long Messiah with the Chancel Choir concert Dec. 4 at 6 p.m.

Christmas Crèche exhibit

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1620 E. 29th Ave., is presenting its annual Christmas Crèche cxhibit on Thursday through Dec. 4 from noon to 9 p.m.

A Christmas crèche is a Nativity display, and many countries and cultures are represented in the exhibit.

There will be free concerts performed by local school groups and musicians daily at 3 and 7 p.m. On Dec. 4, there will be a satellite Christmas program featuring the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
