Visual Art Tour venues

Open houses run Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Many of the exhibits are up through the end of October.

“ The Artist’s Tree, 828 W. Sprague Ave. – “Sherrilyn Johnson: Watercolor Creations,” Friday, 5 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, noon to 6 p.m.

“ Avenue West Gallery, 1021 W. First Ave. – “Marilyn Matherly and Cheryl Halverson: Fire and Ice, Disparate Views,” watercolor, collage and mixed media. Friday, 5 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, noon to 7 p.m.

“ Caterina Winery, 905 N. Washington St. – Phil Bailey’s illustrations in watercolor, pen and pencil, and screen printing. D.J. Elevation will spin house music. Friday and Saturday, noon to midnight.

“ Cat’s Eye Gallery, 225 W. Indiana Ave. – Glass works and paintings by John Stokesbury, Conrad Bagley and Cat’s Eye painting group. Demonstrations by abstract painter Sam White and glass bead artists. Friday, 4 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, noon to 5 p.m.

“ CenterStage, 1017 W. First Ave. – “Brett Bellinger: Tribal Recyclization,” Northwest tribal images on found objects. Friday and Saturday, 4:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.

“ Chase Gallery, Spokane City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd. – “Keith Simpson: New Ceramic Works.” Live music by Michael Keyes and Bob Beaumier. Friday only.

Adams St. – “Archie Bray 2005 Resident Show,” sculptural and functional works by ceramic artists from the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts in Helena, Friday, 5 to 8 p.m. Free workshop with sculptor Trey Hill and potter Tara Wilson, Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“ River Park Square, 808 W. Main Ave. – Main floor, Lake Atrium: “Jim Dhillon: Point Counterpoint,” acrylic paintings with some assemblage; Kim Hauender’s stained glass; E.L. Stewart, oil paintings. Kress Gallery, third level: “Christine Kimball: Shifting Viewpoints,” new multi-panel paintings that evoke the landscape through use of translucent light and natural forms. Music by J. P. Shields. “ Spokane Convention Center, 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd. – “Magic of Quilting,” more than 500 quilts on display. Music by harpist Bronn Journey. One-time $5 entry fee. Friday, noon to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“ Spokane Transit Authority Plaza, 701 W. Riverside Ave. – “Clay Connection,” Friday only. Ceramics by Liz Bishop, Sharon Davidson, Mark Moore, Sara Van Holder, Mahayla Fedor, Dana Pearson and Jeanette Saville. Workshop by Davidson for children ages 1-12; each child will be able to create a small sculpture. Pottery wheel throwing demonstrations by Bishop at 7 p.m. and Moore at 8 p.m.

“ Spokane Potters’ Guild, 1404 N. Fiske St. – Wheel-throwing demonstration. Exhibit by Guild members includes hand-built and wheel-thrown ceramics. Friday, 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“ Tinman Artworks, 811 W. Garland Ave. – Watercolor paintings by Judy Patterson and glass work by Marci Hocking. Live music by Steve Simmons and friend.

“ Washington Photo and Digital, 101 S. Division St. – Floral paintings in acrylic by Debra Hanks, oil paintings and sculpture by Ole Olson, vivid wildlife paintings by Glenice, watercolors by Elizabeth Scott and Susan Todd. Friday only.

“ Women’s Hearth/Transitions, 920 W. Second Ave. – “Tapestry,” works by women who are experiencing personal transitions. Large collective collage and individual works in a variety of mediums.
