Christian comedy
The People for Christ Ministry is presenting Christian comedian Chonda Pierce at the Spokane Opera House on Monday at 7 p.m.
Pierce, who has been entertaining audiences for more than 20 years, has traveled with the Rev. Billy Graham and performed at the Grand Ole Opry. She also is the author of eight books.

Last day of Greek Festival
For the 70th year in a row, the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1703 N. Washington St., is offering its Greek Festival, and today is the last day to attend.
The doors open at noon, and dinner will be served from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Menu items include beef kapama, braised in tomato sauce, and orzo pasta with browned butter and myzithra cheese. Authentic Greek coffee and pastries, beer and wine will be available in the taverna.
There’s also Greek dancing, and cooking and icon-painting demonstrations.
The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children 6 and under, which includes a complete dinner or three grill items. Meals are available to eat at the festival or to take home.
Tickets are available at City Ramp Garage, First and Stevens; G. Arger Co., 300 N. Mullan Road, Spokane Valley; Spartan Cutlery in NorthTown Mall; and at the church.

Apple Festival
Green Bluff Community United Methodist Church, 9908 E. Green Bluff Road, is hosting its annual Apple Festival Craft and Bake Sale every weekend during October, Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.
The festival includes entertainment, crafts, apple pie and dumplings.

Choral concert
The Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., is presenting a choral evensong concert Sunday at 4 p.m.
Evensong is a traditional, centuries-old service for reflection and to pray for protection through the night.
The Ladies of the Cathedral Choir will perform “sung Scriptures” and contemporary pieces with organ accompaniment from Billie Severtsen and Janet Satre Ahrend. Before the concert, the church will be open for tours from noon to 4 p.m.
The events are free; donations will be accepted.

Harvest festival and dinner
Heritage Congregational Church, 1801 E. 29th Ave., is presenting its Pilgrim Harvest Festival and Dinner today from 4 to 7 p.m.
The festival will include a representation of the original Thanksgiving and will include authentic food and costumes.
The cost is $10 for adults and children 12 and older, $5 for children 5 to 11 (free for children under 5). Proceeds will benefit the church’s building improvement fund.
The church also is accepting new and gently used clothing and toiletries for those affected by Hurricane Katrina. Particularly needed are new underwear (especially children’s), soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors and deodorant.

Guest speakers
• Greenacres Christian Fellowship, 215 N. Barker Road, is presenting speakers Tony and Janet Alward on Sunday during services at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m.
This will be the sixth year in a row that the couple have spoken at the church. They will speak about healing and miracles.

• Plymouth Congregational Church, 1502 W. Eighth Ave., is hosting Ronald White, a professor at San Francisco Theological Seminary, Sunday during the 10 a.m. worship service and at 7 p.m.
White, author of “The Eloquent President: A Portrait of Lincoln Through His Words,” has spoken about Abraham Lincoln at the White House, the Library of Congress and at Gettysburg.

Craftapalooza in Colbert
Colbert Presbyterian Church, 4211 E. Colbert Road, is presenting Craftapalooza next Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The church will offer craft items, candy and baked goods, garden supplies, holiday items, toys, tools and more. Proceeds will benefit the church’s goal of buying a multiperson vehicle.

Domestic violence seminars
According to the Spokane County Domestic Violence Consortium, one of every three women in Spokane County has been a victim of domestic violence.
In conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Interfaith Council is presenting a series of faith-based events this month in many different churches throughout Spokane.
