Area students win EWU presidential awards

The following local residents have been awarded a $2,000 Presidential Scholarship for the 2005-2006 school year at Eastern Washington University. The scholarship is given to incoming freshman students based on their high school academics. It is renewable for a second year if a 3.5 grade-point average is maintained.

Kyra Allison, the daughter of Kelly and David Allison of Spokane, is a 2005 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School.

Brandon Arthur, a pharmacy major, is the son of Elley Beem of Spokane. He is a 2005 graduate of North Central High School.

Eric Bofenkamp, a 2005 graduate of Mt. Spokane High School, is the son of Maren and Brian Bofenkamp of Spokane.

Brendan Booth, a pre-medical biochemistry major, is a 2005 graduate of Central Valley High School. He is the son of Kathryn Evenson and Kevin Booth, both of Spokane.

A.J. Brulotte, the son of Brandee Gannon and Randy Brulotte, both of Spokane, is a 2005 graduate of Mt. Spokane High School.

Belinda Buchholz, the daughter of Rebecca and Ralph Buchholz of Nine Mile Falls, is a 2005 graduate of Lakeside High School.

Valerie Catlett, the daughter of Lisa and Craig Catlett of Veradale, is majoring in business. She is a 2005 graduate of University High School.

Molly Conley, the daughter of Shannon and T.R. Kip Conley of Spokane, is majoring in engineering. She is a 2005 graduate of Shadle Park High School.

Ryan Corativo was also awarded a $1,000 Woodrow Van Fredenberg Scholarship. A 2005 graduate of Mead High School, he is the son of Gayle and Chris Corativo, Spokane.

Matthew Davis, who is majoring in anthropology, is the son of Yvonne Davis of Spokane and Greg Rapp of St. Maries, is a 2005 graduate of Shadle Park High School.

Michael DeLaMatter, who is majoring in forensic science, is the son of Judy and David DeLaMatter of Spokane. He is a 2005 graduate of Mead High School.

Eileen Dempsey, a 2005 graduate of University High School, is majoring in math. She is the daughter of Patricia and James Dempsey of Spokane.

Teko Dumoulin, the son of Syncione Bresgal and Joe Dumoulin of Spokane, is a 2005 graduate of Ferris High School.

Jennifer Eller, the daughter of Kathy and Dan Eller of Newman Lake, is a 2005 graduate of East Valley High School.

Paul Felchlin, a 2005 graduate of Mead High School, is majoring in elementary education. He is the son of Ruth and Frank Felchlin of Spokane.

Allison Fortney, a 2005 graduate of North Central High School, is the daughter of Lisa Fortney of Spokane and Bruce Fortney. She is majoring in education.

Renee Gaunt, the daughter of Jean and Mike Gaunt of Spokane, is majoring in biochemistry. She is a 2005 graduate of North Central High School.

Courtney Gill, the daughter of Sandi and Bud Gill of Spokane, is a 2005 graduate of Shadle Park High School. She is majoring in nursing.

Denise Gjendem, a 2005 graduate of East Valley High School, is majoring in physical therapy. She is the daughter of Cynthia and Michael Gjendem of Spokane.

Tatyana Grichannaya, the daughter of Nadezhda and Vladimir Grichannaya of Spokane, is a 2005 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School.

Ashley Hannas, a 2005 graduate of East Valley High School, is the daughter of Cheryl Knoll of Spokane Valley and Wayne Hannas of Spokane.

Matthew Hanson, who is majoring in business, is a 2005 graduate of East Valley High School. He is the son of Jeneen and Craig Hanson of Newman Lake.

Amelia Harper of Spokane, a 2005 graduate of Gonzaga Prep, is the daughter of Audrey and Carl Harper.

Laura Haskins, an international relations major, is a 2005 graduate of Central Valley High School. She is the daughter of Diane and Mark Haskins of Spokane Valley.

Anna Hutchens, who is majoring in dental hygiene, is the daughter of Laura and James Hutchens of Spokane. She is a 2005 graduate of Rogers High School.

Nykala Isbey, who is majoring in dental hygiene, is the daughter of Darcey and Mike Isbey of Spokane Valley. She is a 2005 graduate of University High School.

Nadezhda Lapik, the daughter of Jill Walker of Spokane, is majoring in secondary education. She is a 2005 graduate of Rogers High School.

•Justine Wetherholt was awarded a $3,000 Academic Honors Scholarship. Wetherholt, a 2005 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, is the daughter of Cathy and Paul Wetherholt of Spokane. She is majoring in math education and special education.
