Sandpoint, Post Falls win semifinals

Brandon Eddy, Michael Brewer and Kyle Meaux each had a goal and an assist as Inland Empire League champion Sandpoint defeated Lakeland 5-0 in a 4A Region I boys soccer semifinal Tuesday at Sandpoint.

Tanner French led the Bulldogs (15-1-2) to their ninth straight victory with a pair of goals. Seth Baker had five saves to earn the shutout.

Lakeland finished its season 2-14.

In Thursday’s championship, Sandpoint will host Post Falls (9-7), which posted a 4-2 win over visiting Moscow (3-9-2) in the other semifinal.

Elsewhere, Brandon Parker scored twice, including the winning goal in the 42nd minute, while Ashley Evans scored once and added an assist in Post Falls’ win over Moscow.

Girls soccer

Elizabeth Young and Melissa Bagan each scored in the last 5 minutes of the first half to propel Lake City to a 3-0 win over visiting Lewiston (3-12-2) in a 5A Region I semifinal. Stephanie Stocking also scored for LC (9-7-3), which will visit Coeur d’Alene (13-3-1) in Thursday’s regional championship.
