The B’s

Northeast B-8: Columbia (7-0, 4-0 NEB-8) clinched a postseason spot and its third league title in four years by beating Cusick Friday. The Lions will open state with a home game the week of Nov. 18 against the second-place team out of the Southeast B-8, probably Colton-Pullman Christian or Tri-Cities Prep. Columbia is the bottom team on the B-8 bracket, so a potential semifinal game would be at a WIAA-approved site near the school, such as Joe Albi Stadium.

Bi-County: The league volleyball tournament starts Tuesday at the higher seeds. Davenport (15-4, 8-0) will be the top seed. Four of the eight teams playing in the double-elimination event will advance to districts, which begin Nov. 3 at St. George’s.

Southeast B-11: Dayton, Asotin (both 4-2 overall), Pomeroy (2-4) and Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia (1-5) all sit at 1-1 in football league play, a game behind DeSales (6-1, 2-0). Asotin hosts Dayton in a key battle for second, while T-O/R travels to Waitsburg (2-3, 0-2).

Southeast B-8: Fourth-ranked Tri-Cities Prep (6-1, 2-1) looks to stay in playoff contention against Touchet (1-5, 1-2). St. John-Endicott (3-3, 1-2) has already faced the top three teams, upsetting Colton-Pullman Christian (6-1, 2-1), and the Eagles will open the soft portion of their schedule against Prescott (1-5, 1-3).

Whitman County: Tekoa-Oakesdale (8-2) holds a half-game lead over Garfield-Palouse, Rosalia (both 7-2) and LaCrosse-Washtucna (8-3) as volleyball league play enters its final full week. L-W hosts Rosalia tonight and T-O travels to Palouse on Tuesday in key matches.
