Lakeside sweeps Colville
Kelli Tikker had 18 kills and Lindsay Jelke dished out 34 assists to lead Lakeside to a 25-15, 25-20, 25-21 sweep of Colville in a Great Northern League volleyball match Tuesday night at Nine Mile Falls.
Kia Gibson had five blocks to lead the defense for the second-place Eagles (8-2). Morgan Bassett had nine kills to lead the Indians (5-4), who fell into a tie for third place with Chewelah with three games remaining.
The Indians and Cougars will square off in the season’s final game on Thursday.
Elsewhere, Sarah Robinson had 13 assists and four aces as Riverside swept visiting Deer Park 25-11, 25-18, 25-12. Kayla Newberg added 10 kills and three blocks for the Rams (4-5), who moved within a game of third place. Natalie Baydo led the last-place Stags (0-10) with six kills.
Girls soccer
Abby Busboom scored in the first minute and Katie Spangenberg added insurance in the second half to give Pullman the outright Great Northern League title and a 2-0 victory over Lakeside at Nine Mile Falls. Raquel Marcelo needed just two saves to earn the shutout for the Greyhounds (13-1, 10-0). The Eagles (6-8, 5-5) fell a half-game behind Medical Lake and Deer Park for third place. … Courtney Kelly and Emily Kern each had a goal and an assist in the second half to lead Medical Lake (7-6, 5-4) to a 3-1 comeback victory over visiting Chewelah. Jochelle Schatz scored first for the Cougars (1-12, 0-10) in the 20th minute. … The Colville at Deer Park match was postponed after the officiating crew failed to show. There has been no make-up date set, as the regular season is almost over.
