Broncos roll over Aggies

Associated Press

Jared Zabransky threw for 328 yards and four touchdowns to lead Boise State to a 45-21 victory over Utah State on Saturday in Logan, Utah.

It’s the Broncos (5-2, 3-0 WAC) fifth straight win and their 29th consecutive league victory, the longest current conference winning streak in the nation. Boise State’s last consecutive loss was Nov. 3, 2001, at Louisiana Tech.

The Broncos have won 15 straight conference road games.

Leon Jackson was 16 for 29 for 206 yards and three touchdowns for the Aggies (2-4, 1-3), who have lost five straight to the Broncos.

Hawaii 45, San Jose State 38

Colt Brennan passed for 457 yards and three TDs and Nate Ilaoa’s 7-yard TD run with just more than 5 minutes left put the Warriors (3-4, 3-2) ahead for good in a victory over the Spartans (1-6, 0-4) in San Jose, Calif.

San Jose State trailed by as many as 17 points before Al Guidry tied it at 38 with 8:57 remaining with a 25-yard touchdown run on a reverse.

But the Spartans couldn’t hold off the pass-happy Warriors and Brennan, who threw for 66 yards during an 80-yard scoring drive that ended with Ilaoa’s TD with 5:26 to go. Warriors safety Dane Porlas ended San Jose State’s hopes with an interception with 55 seconds left.

La. Tech 40, North Texas 14

Matt Kubik passed for 283 yards and a touchdown to lead the Bulldogs (3-3) past the Mean Green (2-4) in non-conference play at Ruston, La.

Kubik completed 23 of 30 passes and had 43 yards rushing.
