Support Tom Agnew for commissioner
Citizens of the Liberty Lake community and beyond should make no mistake about it, this Sewer and Water District race is important. It is not (as candidate John Korondy is trying to make it) about north and south of Sprague, city vs. county. It is rather, about the direction and future of our entire greater community.
Here are some points that merit careful consideration.
Korondy claims in his Web site that attacking a person is not suitable. Then in that same site he proceeds to call Tom Agnew “Slick. Slimy slick” and then “afflicted with verbal diarrhea.” That’s not exactly the high road.
One of Korondy’s yard sign bullets reads “for the environment.” Really? What about his editorial in the Liberty Lake Splash (2-17-05) where he claims the district has accumulated “unneeded reserves” by “gouging ratepayers and developers.” Hmmm, doesn’t seem to be a lack of development going on around here, John.
The facts: Our rates are based on statewide averages that are consistently in the lower one third of sewer rates and lower 10 percent of water rates. Maybe that’s why so many people from California (Mr. Korondy included) are making their way here to our little clean water Mecca.
This same candidate claims that he wants to unite and represent our entire community yet in his blogs he calls residents south of Sprague the “privileged league” then goes on to say city residents deserve a seat on the LLSWD. Not exactly bridge building language is it?
Finally there is experience. There is no contest here. Tom Agnew is a proven advocate for a clean community for all of us. His integrity and experience are a matter of record, and as we watch neighboring communities boiling their drinking water, and aquifers running dry as near as Twin Falls, Idaho, that experience is more important than ever.
So please, have a drink of fresh clean water out of your tap, step outside, take a deep breath and look around you. Are the developers suffering? Are we not growing fast enough for your taste? Do we want to keep our watershed and community clean? Answer these questions and then on Nov. 8 vote your conscience …vote for Tom Agnew, Sewer and Water District commissioner.
