Devil Rays 4, Yankees 3: In New York, second baseman Robinson Cano’s error with one out in the ninth inning allowed the go-ahead run to score as Tampa Bay beat New York to win the season series with the Yankees for the first time.
White Sox 6, Royals 5: In Chicago, Paul Konerko homered for the third straight game and Juan Uribe hit one for the second day in a row to lead Chicago past Kansas City for its sixth straight win.
Rangers 10, Twins 7: In Minneapolis, Mark Teixiera’s three-run homer in the ninth inning made him just the fifth player in major league history to hit 100 in his first three seasons as Texas beat Minnesota.
Orioles 5, Blue Jays 0: In Baltimore, Daniel Cabrera came off the disabled list to throw seven innings of four-hit ball, and Javy Lopez drove in three runs to lead Baltimore past Toronto.
Indians 6, Tigers 1: In Detroit, Cliff Lee allowed four hits over eight shutout innings as Cleveland beat Detroit. Detroit scored in the ninth, its first run in 27 innings, to avoid its third straight shutout.
National League
Astros 2, Phillies 1: In Philadelphia, pinch-runner Eric Bruntlett stole second and third then scored the go-ahead run on Jason Lane’s single in the ninth, lifting N.L. wild-card leading Houston to a win over Philadelphia. The Astros lead the Phillies by 1 1/2 games.
Marlins 4, Nationals 2: In Washington Luis Castillo went 3 for 4 with a homer and two RBIs in a rare chance to lead off, and Ismael Valdez won for the first time in more than a month, leading Florida past Washington.
Braves 3, Mets 1: In Atlanta, John Smoltz outpitched Pedro Martinez, and Andruw Jones drove in two runs as Atlanta beat New York.
Cubs 5, Cardinals 2: In St. Louis, Glendon Rusch was perfect for six innings and pitched into the eighth for his first victory in more than two months, helping Chicago beat St. Louis.
Reds 2, Brewers 1 (10): In Cincinnati, Javier Valentin’s RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning gave Cincinnati a victory over Milwaukee.
Diamondbacks 4, Pirates 2 (12): In Pittsburgh, rookie catcher Ryan Doumit’s errant throw on a rundown in the 12th inning gave Arizona the victory over Pittsburgh.
Rockies 6, Padres 5: In San Diego, Todd Helton reached base five times and scored twice as Colorado upended San Diego.
Dodgers 4, Giants 2 (10): In Los Angeles, Jeff Kent hit a two-run homer with two out in the 10th inning, helping Los Angeles beat San Francisco.
