Fairfield City Council – The council awarded a tree-trimming contract to Inland Tree Trimming Service. It also approved an agreement with Century West to recoat the city’s water tank. An ordinance to redo a previous annexation because of procedural issues was approved. Council members also discussed having students from the Upper Columbia Academy in Spangle do community service work in the town to fulfill graduation requirements. (Source: Town clerk Sue Adams)

Valley Fire – Commissioners passed a resolution to purchase sole-source software to track maintenance for each vehicle. They offered contracts to a new secretary and division chief of training. Commissioners also offered a $10,000 per year raise to Chief Mike Thompson based on his positive six-month performance evaluation, which Thompson turned down. (Source: Commissioner Joe Dawson)

Rockford City Council – Council members approved the final draft of the town’s comprehensive plan. They also discussed a new FEMA grant that will allow them to purchase a new fire truck. There will be a meeting of the small towns in the area at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Fairfield Community Center. Representatives of the towns will meet with representatives from Spokane County and the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. (Source: City Clerk)

Liberty Lake SCOPE – Volunteers from several other SCOPE stations in the county attended. There was a discussion of search-and-rescue operations and what SCOPE volunteers can do to help. Volunteers also received training on patrolling the Centennial Trail. (Source: President Wendy Van Orman)
