NEB-11: Davenport football (1-0) becomes the last NEB-11 team to begin its league season when the Gorillas host Lind-Ritzville (1-0, 1-0 NEB-11) Friday night. Liberty (0-1, 0-1) tries to rebound from a blowout out the hands of Reardan when the Lancers travel to Odessa (2-0, 1-0) for another tough game. Reardan (1-0, 1-0) comes back with a trip to Wilbur-Creston (1-1, 0-1), and Springdale (0-2, 0-1) goes to Selkirk (1-0, 1-0). NEB-8: Columbia football (2-0) travels to Ellensburg to take on Pe Ell (1-1) in a rematch of last year’s State B-8 semifinal, when Columbia defeated the Trojans in a 46-34 shootout. SEB-11: Only two football teams enter the week with victories, as Dayton (1-0) and DeSales (2-0) both defeated out-of-state opponents in higher classifications. Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia (0-1), which came within 23 seconds of defeating 1A Liberty Bell last week, tries to snap its 10-game losing streak against Asotin (0-1) in a non-league contest at Tekoa. Southeast B-8: LaCrosse-Washtucna, Colton/Pullman Christian and Tri-Cities Prep, the football teams picked to finish in league’s top three, have outscored their opponents by a combined score of 328-42. L-W (37 straight victories) will attempt to break the State B record win streak against South Wasco County, Ore., while CPC travels to Idaho State 1A Division II semifinalist Clark Fork (1-1). TCP hosts Almira/Coulee-Hartline (0-1). Whitman: Reigning state volleyball champion Garfield-Palouse opened league play Tuesday with a four-game victory over LaCrosse-Washtucna, extending its WCL win streak to 33.
