Idaho falls to Nevada

Salaia Salave’a finished with 12 kills as Nevada, behind 13 team blocks, swept Idaho 3-0 in the Vandals’ home volleyball opener Thursday in Moscow.

Nevada (8-5, 3-0 Western Athletic Conference) outhit Idaho .292 to .053. Haley Larsen led the Vandals (8-6, 1-2) with 11 kills.

CCS names interim athletic director

Community Colleges of Spokane announced assistant athletic director Robert Lee will act as interim athletic director with the retirement of Maury Ray, which is effective Saturday. Lee, an Eastern Washington graduate, will serve as A.D. through July 1.

Jensen has successful surgery

Washington senior forward Mike Jensen had successful shoulder surgery but will miss the start of the men’s basketball season.
