A garden story

Janet Nelson wrote to say she’s a fan of Home and to pass along the story of her garden.

“I had a very special gift given to me last summer,” Nelson wrote. “The younger couple who purchased the home my parents built in the 1950s, was getting it ready to sell. The wife saw me and said ‘We still have all the roses and lots of the plants your mom planted so please come and take ANYTHING that you would like.’”

Nelson took the young woman up on the offer and brought home a fragrant “old fashioned” deep red rose, candy tuft, Shasta daisy, blue geranium and coral bells. “Now my garden is a continuation of my Mom’s. It makes my garden extra special, too, since I know I helped mom plant many of these in our garden,” Nelson wrote. “Such a wonderful gift of the heart from this special couple.”

Success at the MAC

From Patti Larkin, curator of the Northwest Museum of Arts and Cuture’s Campbell House: The appraisers provided 1,036 appraisals and the event raised more than $10,000 toward the restoration of Campbell House. Thanks for helping out.
