Idaho stars play Saturday

The Spokesman-Review

The third annual Idaho state all-star high school basketball games will be played Saturday at North Idaho College’s Christianson Gym.

As usual, many of the top seniors throughout the state will be on hand. But the top 5A boys and girls from the Boise area will not play.

Still, the teams are laden with talent. The North teams feature athletes from Districts I and II while the South teams include players from Districts III, IV, V and VI.

The girls will tip off the action at 1 p.m. The boys will play at 3:30. In between, a 3-point shooting contest, ultimately pitting the top male against the top female, and a slam-dunk contest will be featured. Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for students and senior citizens.

The boys state Gatorade player of the year, Brady Jardine of 5A state champ Twin Falls, will head up the South. The South girls roster was overhauled after half a dozen Boise area players declined invitations.

The teams were selected by a panel of media statewide.
