COPS group offers new Web site

Spokane’s Community Oriented Policing Services organization has started a new Web site to help city residents take advantage of the services offered by COPS organizations throughout the city.

The site is www.spokanecops.org.

The volunteer-based organization began in the West Central Neighborhood in 1992 and now has 11 offices throughout Spokane.

COPS acts as a partner to Spokane police and offers a range of services in crime prevention, neighborhood patrols and crime report taking.

In 2005 COPS volunteers worked more than 45,500 hours, took 30,557 reports and were involved in 181 projects and programs, according to the Web site.
