Bazaar to benefit anti-violence group
The third annual Spokane County Domestic Violence Consortium Spring Bazaar is taking place today in the Great Room at CenterPlace, 2426 N. Discovery Place.
The event includes a time of shopping from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A variety of vendors will be in attendance, including Beth’s Baby Things, Silver Linings Jewelry, Chic’s Kitchen, Anthony Colovechio, and Jane Latus Emmert.
In addition, participants can enjoy refreshments and hors d’oeuvres while browsing through an assortment of handcrafted jewelry, gift baskets, gourmet foods and more.
Each vendor will donate a share of their proceeds to the Spokane County Domestic Violence Consortium, a nonprofit organization that offers an assortment of programs and services to prevent domestic violence in Spokane County.

Auctions and dinners
•Join St. Michael’s Academy for its 10th annual auction and dinner.
Tickets for Saturday’s event are $25 and must be purchased by Monday by calling 467-0986, ext. 100.
A preview of auction items begins at 4 p.m., followed by dinner and a live auction.
Items up for bid include 32 tons of gravel, dinner and dessert for 50 guests, $500 and $1,000 orthodontics certificates, La-Z-Boy recliners, area rugs, a trip to Reno, Nev., a whitewater trip in Wyoming, beauty baskets, craft baskets, hotel stays and restaurant certificates.

•The Corbin Senior Activity Center will host its fourth annual Munch and Mingle Auction on Saturday to raise money for the purchase of a new van with a middle aisle.
Held from 3 to 8 p.m. at the center, 827 W. Cleveland Ave., the evening encompasses a silent auction, oral auction conducted by Owens Auction and dinner served by Spokane’s Lilac royalty.
Auction items include a basketball signed by Adam Morrison of the Gonzaga University basketball team.
Tickets are $20 per person in advance, or $23 at the door. Tables of eight are available for $140.

Free Scoop Day
Ben & Jerry’s will dish out free scoops of ice cream on Tuesday for the Wishing Star Foundation.
Eat all the free ice cream you can from noon to 8 p.m. while enjoying a multitude of entertainment at Ben & Jerry’s in the River Park Square Mall.
Entertainment will be provided by Berry Lee White, Heather Palidan, The Neveready Band, North Central High School Choir, McGruff the Crime Dog, Tiny the Clown, Dr. MT Shrink and more.
Appearances by Spokane’s Lilac Queen Zanie McMillan and her court, and Eldonna Dossett of the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce, Spokane City Councilman Brad Stark, Spokane Valley Police Chief Cal Walker and others will be made throughout the event.
