Michal Repik scored a spectacular goal and Dustin Slade set a new Western Hockey League shutout record to lead the Vancouver Giants to a 2-0 victory over the visiting Everett Silvertips in Game 2 of the Western Conference final on Saturday.
Defenseman Paul Albers also scored for the No. 1-ranked Giants, who took advantage of a limping Everett team to stake themselves to a 2-0 series lead with Game 3 Tuesday in Everett.
Moose Jaw 3, Medicine Hat 2 (OT): Former Spokane Chief Steven Gillen had two assists as the Warriors posted their second straight road win to take a 2-0 series lead in the Eastern finals.
