•Greater Spokane League: Freshman Taneesha Pounder gave up two hits in a complete-game shutout to lead Mead to a five-inning, 13-0 rout at Gonzaga Prep (4-9). Katie Bronson had four RBIs to lead the Panthers (7-6). Megan Thigpen, Katie Kine and Erin Norris each had multiple hits for Mead. The game was originally scheduled for Thursday.
Baseball
•Great Northern League: Casey McNair went 2 for 3 and drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning as Riverside (8-5) edged visiting Medical Lake (7-4) 6-5 in one extra inning. The game was a makeup of the second game of a doubleheader that was rained out last week.
Girls golf
•Greater Spokane League: Mead placed four golfers in the top 10 and grabbed the team title at the fourth GSL event at the par-72 MedowWood Golf Course. Annie Brophy of Gonzaga Prep shot a 3-over-par 75 to earn medalist honors. Mead’s Lauren Howell was the only other player under 80 with a second-place score of 78.
