More than 700 dancers from throughout the Pacific Northwest will perform styles ranging from ballet to tap to hip-hop at DanceFest Spokane 2006 on Saturday at Spokane Community College.

The free event, sponsored by the Inland Northwest Dance Association, runs 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the SCC Lair, 1810 N. Greene St.

Highlights include participation in an attempt to break the world record for most dancers performing around the country at the same hour from 10 to 11 a.m.; a performance by Ballet Spokane from 6:15 to 7 p.m.; and a contra dance sponsored by the Spokane Folklore Society from 7 to 8 p.m.

A social dance area will be open throughout the day for the public to learn and participate in a variety of dance forms, with a separate area for children.

Other activities during the day include a health fair, art gallery, kids’ arts and crafts, vendor booths and a silent auction. For more information see www.indaspokane.org.
