Today’s project

Remember the playhouse you built when you were a kid? The plan came from your imagination, the tools came from your dad and the lumber came from wherever you could scrounge it.
Although it only lasted a summer or two, that ramshackle playhouse was filled with memories that will last a lifetime. Now you can help your own kids (or grandkids) create a home for some priceless memories of their own.
This playhouse project is easy to build even if your woodworking skills haven’t improved with age. Step-by-step instructions, full-size patterns for the angled cuts and modular construction – the floor, walls, porch and roof are assembled separately – make it simple enough for most do-it-yourselfers.
The project is built from redwood as pictured, but pine, cedar or even plywood also will work. The finished playhouse measures six-feet square (including the porch) by about six-feet tall at the peak of the roof.
The Playhouse plan, No. 881, is $9.95 and includes step-by-step directions with photos, full-size traceable patterns, construction diagrams, a shopping list and cutting schedule and a toll-free help line for project questions.
A package of playhouse projects, No. C134, is $22.95 and includes this plan and two others. A catalog picturing hundreds of do-it-yourself projects is $2. Please include $4 for postage and handling (except catalog-only orders) and allow about two weeks for delivery.
