Hillyard Hi-Jinks – The annual festival continues through Sunday in Harmon-Sharpley Park, Market and Bismark. Parade begins at 10 a.m. There also will be vendors, bingo, carnival games, entertainment and a beer garden.; (509) 489-1122.

Spokane Highland Games – The annual Celtic festival will include competitions, entertainment, vendors, historical demonstrations and activities for children; 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at the Spokane Fair and Expo Center, Broadway and Havana. Electric Fun Fly – The Inland Empire Soaring Society invites anyone with an electric model plane to join the Bill Weirauch Memorial flying competition, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. today and Sunday at Mt. Spokane High School, 6015 E. Mount Spokane Park Drive. AMA or MAAC membership is required to fly, plus a $5 fee. Spectators are welcome. (509) 292-2690.

Summer Concert Series – featuring a performance by “Canned Music”, 6-8 p.m. Thursday in Coeur d’Alene Park, Second and Chestnut in Browne’s Addition. Concertgoers may bring a blanket and picnic; no alcohol will be allowed. The free concerts will continue Thursdays through August; (509) 747-2853.

West Plains Community Fair – The 14th annual event includes exhibits, games, food, animals and a car show, Friday, next Saturday and Aug. 13 at the Cheney Rodeo Grounds on State Route 905; (509) 926-2176.
