If anyone out there is wondering whether Mama Cass and Keith Moon died in the same apartment, or what the DMX stands for in the rapper’s name, we have the book for you.
Pop music know-it-all Gavin Edwards answers those questions and more in “Is Tiny Dancer Really Elton’s Little John?: Music’s Most Enduring Mysteries, Myths, and Rumors Revealed” (Three Rivers Press; $13.95), which hits the shelves Tuesday.
Among the 241 pages, Edwards delves into the musical mystique – sex (of course), drugs (you bet) and other stuff.
“Tiny Dancer,” by the way, was written about the women Elton John and his lyricist, Bernie Taupin, met when they went to California in 1970.
Cass and Moon both died – four years apart – in the London flat owned by their mutual singer-songwriter buddy, Harry Nilsson.
And DMX, nee Earl Simmons, picked up his name from a drum machine.
