Cardinals 7, Brewers 3: At St. Louis, Jeff Suppan allowed four hits in 7 1/3 innings and Juan Encarnacion hit a three-run homer, helping the Cardinals beat Milwaukee.

Cubs 6, Pirates 1: At Chicago, Ronny Cedeno hit a three-run homer and Rich Hill had a career-high nine strikeouts in seven sharp innings to lead the Cubs over Pittsburgh.

Padres 6, Nationals 3 (10): At San Diego, Trevor Hoffman set a major league record with his 11th 30-save season and the Padres got the victory over Washington.

Mets 8, Phillies 1: At New York, Jose Reyes hit a grand slam to cap a seven-run fourth as the Mets got the victory over Philadelphia.

Braves 6, Reds 4: At Cincinnati, Jeff Francoeur hit a two-run triple in the eighth inning to help Atlanta beat the Reds.
