Head to the ranch for ‘Opera to Opry’
Opera lovers can start saddling up for an evening of “Opera at the Ranch” on Sunday at Lake Coeur d’Alene’s Rockford Bay.
The “Opera to Opry” program, presented by Opera Plus of Coeur d’Alene, will combine popular opera arias and duets with the western sounds of the band from the Rockin’ B Ranch dinner theater show in Liberty Lake.
Soprano Julie Powell, baritone Max Mendez and bass-baritone William Rhodes will be joined by yodeler and western chanteuse Pamela Brownlee, guitarist Chuck Borris and bass player Scott Brownlee. Marlo Faulkner of Opera Plus will narrate.
The Rockin’ B also will cater a chuck wagon dinner of chicken and ribs, paired with wines, beers and soft drinks.
It all takes place Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Rockford Bay ranch of Rocky and Mary Watson. Guests are encouraged to dress in comfortable, casual western garb and bring lawn chairs or ground cover for the outdoor program.
Cost is $50; reservations are required. Call (208) 664-2827.
