The Aug. 12 Helping Hands column about the Coeur d’ Jazz Festival incorrectly referred to Jim and Cindy Loebig as the founders of the original 1980s Coeur d’Alene Jazz Fest. Bob Brown, a Coeur d’Alene City Council member from 1982-1986 and chairman of the city Arts Commission at the time, wrote to say that local guitarist Bob Simmons was the festivals’ founder. “It was totally his (Simmons’) concept, and everyone at the city and at downtown businesses thought it was a great idea,” Brown wrote. “This is in no way taking any credit away from Jim and Cindy, who certainly put in many long hours for several years helping with the festival.”
