New York’s Chien-Ming Wang tied Toronto’s Roy Halladay for the major league lead with his 16th win in the day game.
Athletics 7, Red Sox 2: At Oakland, Calif., Barry Zito pitched 6 1/3 strong innings to win his third straight start, and Mark Ellis and Bobby Kielty each hit solo home runs and the Athletics beat Boston.
Indians 3, Blue Jays 2 (10): At Cleveland, Johnny Peralta hit a two-out homer off closer B.J. Ryan in the 10th inning to give the Indians a three-game sweep of Toronto.
White Sox 5, Devil Rays 4: At Chicago, Tadahito Iguchi tied it with a two-out, two-run homer, and Jim Thome celebrated his return to the lineup with a go-ahead single as the White Sox edged Tampa Bay.
Orioles 7, Rangers 4 (10): At Arlington, Texas, Jay Gibbons hit a go-ahead RBI double to spark Baltimore’s three-run 10th inning, and Miguel Tejada had four hits in a win over the Rangers.
Royals 4, Twins 3: At Minneapolis, Luke Hudson threw seven strong innings, Ryan Shealy hit a go-ahead RBI single in the sixth inning and Kansas City beat Minnesota for the second straight night.
