Spartans upend Bulldogs
Adam Tafralis threw three touchdown passes and rushed for a career-high 76 yards, helping San Jose State end a 12-game losing streak to Fresno State with a 24-14 victory Saturday in San Jose, Calif.
Christopher Owens intercepted two passes, one in the final three minutes, and Matt Castelo made a key interception inside the 5-yard line for the New Mexico Bowl-bound Spartans, who last beat Fresno State in 1990.
Dwayne Wright rushed for 106 yards and scored a touchdown for the Bulldogs, who had their three-game winning streak snapped and ended with a losing season for the first time since 1998.
New Mexico State 50, Louisiana Tech 23: At Las Cruces, N.M., Chase Holbrook passed and ran for four touchdowns as the Aggies beat the Bulldogs.
Holbrook was 41 of 54 for 514 yards and extended his school record for touchdown passes in a season to 34 with scoring passes of 63 and 6 yards to Derek Dubois, and 15 yards to A.J. Harris. David Romaka added two rushing touchdowns for New Mexico State.
