Win slips through UW’s hands

Jessica Davenport and Marscilla Packer each scored 25 points and Brandie Hoskins added 23 to lead No. 6 Ohio State (7-0) back from an 11-point second-half deficit Sunday to beat Washington (3-4) 84-79 in Columbus, Ohio.

Only four players scored for the Buckeyes. Davenport also had 16 rebounds.

Cameo Hicks had 29 points and Cheri Craddock 11 for the Huskies. Emily Florence added five points and 11 assists.

The Huskies led by as many 11 points with 10:30 left.

(2) North Carolina 70, (4) Tennessee 57: At Chapel Hill, N.C., Erlana Larkins had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Tar Heels (8-0) to a victory over the Lady Vols (6-1).

(8) Georgia 79, Georgia Tech 69: At Atlanta, Tasha Humphrey scored 23 points in her first full game of the season and the Lady Bulldogs (7-0) used an 18-0 run in the second half to beat the Yellow Jackets (3-3).

(12) Vanderbilt 82, Clemson 63: At Nashville, Tenn., Liz Sherwood and Caroline Williams recorded double-doubles in helping the Commodores (8-0) get a win over the Tigers (3-5).

(15) Stanford 73, (25) Texas Tech 49: At Stanford, Calif., Candice Wiggins scored 19 points and Brooke Smith added 14 in helping the Cardinal (4-3) to a victory over the Lady Raiders (6-3).

(16) California 81, Arkansas State 62: At Berkeley, Calif., Ashley Walker had a career-high 27 points in the Bear’s victory over the Lady Indians (5-4) that gave the Bears (6-1) their third straight Contra Costa Times Classic championship.

(17) DePaul 78, Missouri State 57: At Springfield, Mo., Caprice Smith scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Blue Demons (5-1) over the Bears (2-4).

(19) Louisville 83, (24) Kentucky 75: At Louisville, Ky., Angel McCoughtry scored 21 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead the Cardinals (8-0) to a win over the Wildcats (4-3).

(20) Michigan State 79, South Florida 71: At East Lansing, Mich., Victoria Lucas-Perry scored 21 points to help the Spartans (6-1) beat the Bulls (7-1).
