Another Bengal gets arrested
Cincinnati Bengals rookie wide receiver Reggie McNeal was arrested in Houston and charged with resisting arrest after being refused entrance to a nightclub early Sunday. McNeal was taken to jail, then released on a $1,000 bond.
“We have been informed that Reggie has been arrested,” team spokesman Jack Brennan said. “We don’t feel it’s appropriate to comment on a matter that’s not resolved.”
McNeal is the seventh Bengals player arrested this year.
Bills lose starting linebacker
Buffalo Bills starting linebacker Angelo Crowell is expected to miss the rest of the season with a broken left leg.
Crowell was hurt Sunday during a 24-21 loss to San Diego. Crowell broke a bone in his lower leg on a run by LaDainian Tomlinson on the Chargers’ first possession.
Redskins send kicker packing
Nick Novak was cut by the Washington Redskins, leaving Shaun Suisham as the team’s only kicker despite an inauspicious debut.
Suisham, signed from the practice squad Saturday, missed his only field goal attempt – a 50-yarder.
Ram attacks bar patron
St. Louis Rams rookie tight end Dominique Byrd was charged Monday with allegedly hitting a bar patron in St. Louis in the face with a drinking glass.
Byrd was charged with second- and third-degree assault and armed criminal action. His bond was set at $25,000.
Charges against Holmes dropped
A judge dismissed misdemeanor charges of domestic violence and assault filed against Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes.
Prosecutors requested the dismissal after concerns about evidence and because Holmes had received anger management counseling through the NFL. Holmes had been charged with assaulting LaShae Boone, mother of one of his three children, in June.

Broncos fullback Cecil Sapp will miss the rest of the season because of a broken left leg, but linebacker Al Wilson could return to practice this week after injuring his neck in the Broncos’ loss to Seattle. … Miami defensive end Jason Taylor left Sunday’s game against Jacksonville with an injury to his right wrist, but returned for the start of the second half and played the rest of the way in the Dolphins’ 24-10 loss to the Jaguars. Taylor is expected to play next week. … The New England Patriots signed defensive back Ray Mickens and placed safety Eugene Wilson on injured reserve.
